A Little Late, Our Wedding Reception Recapped

By a little late, I mean 2 years late.

It just occurred to me that I never recapped our wedding reception. Although I did a very thorough job (if I do say so myself) of recapping the entire day leading up to the reception, I abruptly stopped upon our exit from the trolley. How rude.

Well, no time like the present, right?  Starting from where I left off... here is very delayed Wedding Wednesday for your viewing pleasure.

My sweet groom, C.

Making our entrance into the reception.
I think it is safe to say Mom was pretty excited that we had made it this far.
Also, it appears C is still concerned about stepping on my dress.

This might be my favorite?

C started to get a little rambunctious towards the end. He was highly annoyed about how slowly the band (who I loved) was playing our song, Crazy Love.

A sweet moment with my daddy. He should be so lucky.
After all I did stand in the middle of the dance floor waiting on him for a small eternity...
He was checking out the food.
If my memory serves me correctly, he is chewing celery in this photo.

C and his mama. Like I said.. he was starting to go a little stir crazy.

Some of the details.

Cutting the cake.

C thought he was being funny... I mean this is funny. In the moment however...

A sweet Zeta moment.  Do any of you girls remember what song this was??

And Paige catches the bouquet! Y'all should know that she was engaged within 3 months.

Rant Alert: It cannot go without mentioning that I was less than satisfied with my photography experience. For instance, this photo brings all of my pint up wedding photography based anger to a head again. This photo is one I would consider a must have photo. I mean why did we buy those sparklers if we weren't going to capture it on film?
This photo is the product of a guest's iPhone.
End of Rant.

Hope y'all enjoyed this better late than never wedding recap.
What a coincidence, that it landed on a Wednesday....

Teaser Alert:
(lots of alerts happening here this morning...)
#WeddingWednesday will be back.

Let's talk television.

Now I would never consider myself a TV junkie by any means, but I definitely have a few shows that I enjoy binge watching every week. And I thought it would be fun to let you all in on these gems I fondly refer to as "my programs". (Y'all, that is so my grandmother talking through me.)

Monday night used to be my night for television.   However, that was before How I Met Your Mother had to go and ruin a good thing. I'm not afraid to admit that I'm still a little emotionally scarred from that series finale, and I'm not entirely ready to talk about it, but I will leave it at this: would it have really been too much for them to incorporate the line I had been looking forward to hearing for all of those years? "And that, kids, is how I met your mother." I don't think my expectations were too high....here's looking at  you, Ted Mosby.

Needless to say, Mondays are little less exciting these days without Barney around, but I still get a good kick out of 2 Broke Girls after a long Monday at the office. Max and Caroline's friendship always has me in stitches. And don't even get me started on the Han jokes. Too good. They are just too good.

I'm not committed to very many shows the rest of the week. But I would be lying by omission if I didn't mention the number of series sitting in my DVR. I keep these bad boys locked and loaded for any free time I find throughout the week. C's working late? No problem, that gives me just enough time to keep up with the Kardashians. (I cannot even wait until the premier of I am Cait.) Every show HGTV produces. A bunch of garbage on TLC (Can we also have a group discussion on what that acronym stands for? The Learning Channel?!) Southern Charm (This shitshow - no pun intended - may need  its entirely own post.) Girls. Blue Bloods. Criminal Minds. (I know, I know, I did complete 180 in genres right there). The list goes on and on.

Wait. I think right here in this very moment I realized that I may in fact be a TV junkie? No way... right? You tell me....

Stay tuned, as this very well may become a series in itself.

Weekend Roundup

So if you made it through to the end of my lengthy Five on Friday post last week, you're going to read this roundup and think I'm a big ole liar. Promise I'm not. Short story is that I suffered from a severe case of FOMO and ended up 60 miles off shore on Saturday.

Let's start from the beginning. While walking to my car Friday afternoon, I received a phone call from a sister (well my only sister) in distress. She was sitting on the patio at California Dreaming in need of a drinking partner. Because California Dreaming easily has the cheapest drinks in town (and I love my sister) I headed right over to get my drink on while we waited on C to bring the boat in. A few hours (and drinks) later I was bullied into committing to this fishing trip. I swear it had nothing to do with the drinks.

4:00am sure did come early, but the sunrise was beyond. See for yourself.

I almost forgot to mention that Frank made the trip down
from Columbia for the weekend. #Frankgoesfishing

It was a super slow day on the water, but Sissy did get her birthday fish!

Please forgive me for the shitty quality of my iPhone photos.

After 12 hours at sea, I could barely keep my eyes open for a bite of supper. I swayed myself through a quick shower and promptly went to bed with a head full of wet hair at 8:00pm.

The nice thing about going to bed before the sun goes down is you get a head start on the next day. Up before the birds on Sunday, I had a full day of shopping ahead.  Among some other great finds, were these:

Found at TJ Maxx. They will be perfect for Al Pal's wedding in August!

And this perfect dress for the Rehearsal Dinner.

After all of this shopping for her wedding festivities, I was SO excited to come home to this in the mail!

It is literally SO perfect and SO Alex. My little Florida Girl.

Rounded out the day with a bike ride around the neighborhood (you can't beat Charleston's views) and Chinese delivery.  Sounds like a pretty perfect Sunday to me.  Hope y'all had a great weekend too!

Five on Friday

Might as well jump right on in.  Without further adieu, I give you my first(?) Five on Friday.

1. Blogging is like a thing right now.

After the most glorious girls weekend last weekend, several of my gal pals have decided to start up blogs/rekindle the old hobby. I'm happy to announce my soul sister,(Maybe real sister? Who knows anymore? More on that later.) Paige, has just introduced the world to My Blue Haven. You would be making a serious mistake if you didn't already go check her out.

Paige Whalen
Was she not a vision?!

Additionally, I can't wait to introduce you to what is sure to be the cutest blog on the block written by the one and only Elle Rowan, but you'll have to wait a bit longer for that one....

2. Tanorexia Nervosa.

Speaking of our glorious girls weekend last weekend (celebrating the sweetest little bride to be, Alex, #SingleLadyNoMoor), I am happy to report that I am the tannest lady in Charleston. I mean I walked into the gym this week to be greeted with a "WHY are your legs so dark?". Y'all, this is also a thing for me. You see, in high school I suffered from a debilitating disease self-diagnosed as Tanorexia Nervosa. Most probable is that it was passed down from my mother who basically worships the sun. I would bake in the sun every free moment I had from April to September. And for some reason I am not ashamed to admit that this included a tanning bed membership or two. Anyways, point of the story is, I am thrilled at my improvements over the last 8 years, These tan legs I am sporting now were obtained while wearing SPF 30.

3. Weddings, Weddings, Everywhere.

It is very clear to me that I have officially entered that season of life entitled "Wedding Times." Every time I turn around, a friend is getting engaged! And actually, I love it.  More on this later, but you see, I am actually addicted to weddings.  Please reference this pin board if you require further evidence of this. As I mentioned earlier, we just wrapped up bachelorette celebrations for Alex and now I am seriously counting down the days until #theMoorToddsthemerrier wedding weekend kicks off. Next month!

The Beach Bach Bunch. Get it?

4. National Donut Day

Yes, I'm one of those bloggers. Jumping on the whole "National" holiday trend, but I mean... its donuts? I will  have it be known that that I interrupted my regular route to the office in order to make an appearance at Krispy Kreme this morning. Everyone got a free donut! After two sad announcements at work yesterday, I figured my team could use a little pick me up.  Hot glazed for everyone!

5. Ready, Set, Relax.

I'm not going to lie, I am ready for 5:00pm today.  After going non-stop the last few weekends (remind me to tell  y'all about our MDW river trip), I am straight up exhausted.  And, to be honest, I may have just used up all of my brain power for the day writing this blog post (sorry, boss). While my entire family is going fishing off shore to celebrate my sister's 35th birthday tomorrow (with my husband at the helm), this girl will be sleeping.

Happy Weekend!

Thursday, June 4, 2015

Oh, hey there.

In honor of it being almost two years since I last visited this little piece of the internet, why not start blogging again? Much has happened since Summer 2013 (while at the same time little at all has changed), so although my life may be boring, I will now bore you all with it.

Here goes nothing. Stayed tuned!

Making Photo Books

Don't you just hate it when someone goes and messes up a good thing.
Before the wedding, I created our guest book using Sam's Club's Photo Center online.
It was so easy. The book turned out great, and it was rather inexpensive.

Fast forward a few months later and I am ready to make a few similar books with our wedding photos.
I would really like to have a getting ready book, a ceremony book and a reception book.
I know that's overkill but it sure would be nice!
However, my beloved Sam's Club has since "update" their photo centers online photo book making situation.  I am less that thrilled. Sure, it was more high-tech... I guess in some people's point of view that is a good thing, but y'all, I just like to keep it simple!

Does anyone have any simple/inexpensive ideas/sources for photo book making?
What have you used before?
Although my mother would be devastated for me to use anyone other than Sam's Club I am on the prowl for what is easiest.

Here is what I am looking for:
-no backgrounds
-no picking from 8 million layout options
-no butterflies
-no bubble font
-a full-photo cover option

Rawr, why do people have to mess up a good thing?

Thanks in advance for help!

The Time C's Truck Got Stolen

Yes, you read that title correctly.
I have been meaning to post about this for weeks now,
but I have been a little busy with life.

It is so unfair that no one ever really told me that being a grown-up isn't all that easy.
Mrs. Charlotte had a nice little chat about this little fact the other day.
I am so glad someone else can relate.

Back to the title...
The Thursday morning after Mother's Day.. I believe May 8th or 9th..
C walked out of our front door to head to work and found that his precious truck was not where he had left it the night before (our driveway)! It simply was just NOT there.
The strangest thing that has ever happened to us.
The night prior, I arrived at home around 10pm from sorting through wedding photos with my mother. When I got to our house C's truck was in the driveway so I parked in the yard beside him knowing that he would need to leave for work a tad earlier that I would the next morning. Hindsight sure is 20/20.. maybe if I had parked behind him it would not have been stolen.. OR maybe my car would have been instead!

Regardless, I called the police. They came. We filed a report. C called the insurance company and got the ball rolling on filing the claim. Hopefully it will not be much longer before we receive a check for the missing automobile. It seems that the insurance company likes to give the local authorities an entire MONTH to find the thing before they will count it as a total loss. In the meantime, C has been driving a lovely rental car, a Chevy Impalla, and car shopping online every 15 minutes. But, boy, is it hard to shop when you have no idea how much money you will be getting from insurance/ when that check will arrive!

I know, it is some crazy shit. Life sure is never boring being married to this one.

Hide yo cars, hide yo trucks, you never know when there are gangstas on the loose in your hood.

Mrs. H
